Four Elms Farmhouse

Kent

Our clients commissioned us to build a two-storey extension onto their much-loved farmhouse.

After demolition of a single storey extension to the right of the building, a single storey section of the building was extended in height following removal of the roof. We also took down and rebuilt the remaining front wall of the building, taking the opportunity to install cavity insulation.

The first floor extension consisted of a large en suite bathroom off the master bedroom and two further bedrooms.

The extended area to the ground floor included a large kitchen/breakfast area and utility room. A broad range of handmade units were installed, all with complementing granite worktops. The floors were tiled throughout, and glazed, bifold doors opened onto a new patio area.

The original staircase, being very narrow, was removed, as was one side wall. A new wider staircase was designed and installed to give much improved access.

The property was rewired; a new underfloor central heating system installed, and new windows and doors fitted throughout.

Various other alterations were made in the original areas of the building and the property was completely redecorated.
